Canadian Outdoor Cooking Show Segment (Pilot) - by Bari 2010

Canadian Banff Parks

We are missing an Outdoor Segment that shows our beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains or our rugged British Columbia west coast rainforest.   We have Canada’s favourite Survivorman, starring Les Stroud, but he seems to go off to across the world and forget about Canada – unfortunate – because Canada has so much to offer.

Canada is the gateway to Hunting, Fishing, Exploring and Hiking. The Rocky Mountains is the majestic soul of our raw wild free country. We are abundant with grizzlies, black bear, Kodiaks, cougars, white-tail & mule deer, staggering moose, bolstering Elk, clever wolves, cunning coyotes, graceful flocks of Canada Geese, Grand Bald Eagles and countless other wildlife.

We are all proud Canadians eager to showcase Canada within a whim just out of love for our country.

(We are missing the raw experience to bring Canadians and Tourism to our Canada wilds) When I saw your website – I thought this was awesome – it was a part of our Canadian culture and I believe it will do really well.

Imagine this setting:

[A Chef with his (whites- jacket) on, Preparing a freshly catch of Rainbow Trout from the mouth of the Bow River with the Banff Parks Canada] [He is pan frying his catch over a campfire (sun is setting) the canoe is perched precariously on the river bank.] [The backdrop is the large Rocky Mountains overhead]

[You can hear the crackling of the fire from the young popular while you hear the intense sound of sizzling from the Rainbow Trout] [The Chef coupes his hand and motions it back and forth to take in aroma – he smells the flavours of the rainbow trout with satisfaction.]

“Welcome to Canada in the Rough! To another great Outdoor Cooking Segment of Canada in the Rough!”

[The Chef (Bari)places the pan to the side, while he attends to another pan filled with lyonnaise dill roasted chateau potatoes – he flips the pan with easy over the a small area of set coals- they are just started to brown to a nice golden colour]

“Today - I’m going to show you how to fish for rainbow trout – Right here in the beautiful setting in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. [Pauses...]

“Now – If you only passed by Banff National Park, you missed the heart of Canada!” [He waves his hand over the grand open scale of the open mountain scenery]

“Come on down and take in this memorable scenery first hand with your family – the only way is to actually feel it [He take in a deep breath of the fresh mountain air] “Get in touch with Canada again...”

[The camera scans the beautiful mountain scenery again (including the bow river) – overall and then back to close-up]

[Chef Bari faces the camera and begins to speak]  “Let me introduce our Outdoor Menu Today”

[ He begins to use point out the items beside the campfire ( either a make-shift table or picnic table) – On the table are Red Potatoes, Asparagus, a freshly caught Rainbow Trout, olive oil, salt, pepper, dill, fresh garlic and butter]

“You have Young Red Potatoes, Asparagus, [ he picks up the trout] a nice fresh catch of Rainbow trout [ he smiles and then continues on] olive oil, salt & pepper for seasoning, dill and fresh garlic and of course  to add flavour – rich butter.”

[He pauses quickly] “Come back right to Canada in the Rough – right after these important commercials - to learn more the exciting outdoor fun recipes made easy and quickly”

[Commercial Break]

[Camera quickly scans in after logo heading] [Camera scans onto Chef Bari at the table]

“Welcome Back to Canada in the Rough!  While you were gone I saw an Elk go by...” [Camera quick picture of an Elk crashing through the woods]

[Camera zooms back to Chef Bari starting to prepare Roast Potatoes] [Chef Bari is holding a Chef’s Knife on a wooden cutting board ready to for presentation of “How to Prepare the Roast Potatoes”] [He has items in small glass bowls with ingredients ready]

[Chef Bari begins to speak] “This is easy and fast for any household to do...” [He begins to cut the red potatoes...showing the special easy fast required cut] “See how easy it is... Now all you have to do...[ He take a medium size bowl and pours olive oil, dill, salt and pepper and quickly mixings it and explaining it  at the same time] “ Here you take a medium size bowl and pour olive oil, dill weed, salt and pepper and mix it all together. Then add your cut red potatoes to it.

[He mixes the bowl in a quick funny way – a stop for second...takes a deep breath...] Oh that fresh air is just a killer ...Oh gotta be out here...you really gotta... [He smiles – and goes back to what he was doing]

[The camera flips with him over to the campfire] “It’s important to have a hot but not too hot frying pan ready [ he pauses...] make sure your kids are at a safe distance [ he picks up the hot frying pan and quickly adds the potato mixture to the frying pan – it sizzles with intensity – he quickly flips it a few times  and then places it to the side]

[The camera and Chef Bari moves over back to the table] “Oh Wow! You Gotta Be Here – It smells incredible! Let me show you the rainbow trout right after these messages – come on back Canada in the Rough!

[Commercial Break]

It goes on to cook off the rainbow trout and the asparagus and then “to the plate” sort- of- speak. And of course “to taste” is the most important part of the segment...
